Grants
Each year, funds permitting, the Foundation awards grants to teachers to supplement their classroom curriculum. At the beginning of the school year, teachers complete a grant application that describes what will be purchased and the purpose of that purchase. The equipment and/or materials must not be available through the normal budget. Special consideration is given to projects that are innovative and focus on improving test scores. Each teacher is allowed to request up to $500. The Board reviews all of the requests and selects those they feel will overall do the most good for the school and affect the most students. We rely heavily on the Principal to give us input regarding areas of weakness he or she feels the school has.
It would be wonderful if we could award grants to every single teacher but funding does not permit us to do that. As we keep saying, we all want Boone to be the absolute best educational experience for each and every student. The Board feels that the quality of classroom materials is an integral part in helping the teachers provide the best learning experience.
